Celebrating National Mentoring Month

Why I’m a Professional Mentor

At Friends of the Children – Chicago, relationships are at the heart of everything we do. This National Mentoring Month, we asked some of our mentors: Why are you a Professional Mentor?

“I want to cultivate a relationship that I wish I had when I was a kid.” Tanvi shared.

Nate, explained, “I want to continue a cycle of growth and healing in my community that was instilled in me.”

Their answers are meaningful and rooted in a deep commitment to empowering youth, building strong relationships, and investing in community.

At Friends of the Children-Chicago, we believe in the power of mentorship. Our model is based on trust, consistency, and a commitment to the long-term. Our Professional Mentors show up for our youth week after week and provide individualized and intentional support to each child. This level of support is life changing.

We are so proud of our Professional Mentors who make a lasting impact every day.

Watch the video below to hear their voices and join us in celebrating the transformative power of professional mentorship.

Thank you.
